New Fett Lid, V for Vendetta Mask and some Foot Progress

I recently ordered a V for Vendetta Mask and a new Boba Fett helmet. I DID make a Fett lid from scratch, but this one I ordered is rumoured to be cast from the one they used in filming the Empire Strikes back..so I might not peaint it..just display it 'as is'. I didn't need it, but I was feeling down lately due to recent events so I got impulsive with the spending.

I'll have to take some pics of the 'Mystery Fett Helmet' next to my scratch built.

The V for Vendetta Mask should be fun. I got another one on order for my 'little bro' so we can work on ours together sometime soon! FUN!

I spent a bit more time bondo-ing my R2 feet AGAIN. Man this is the third time....they are taking FOREVER!!! I'm getting closer to where I can paint and mount them. Damn bondo sets WAY too fast in the warm weather. I got frustrated last night..just making a mess.

I had to open up the battery box sides of the feet to allow the foot drives to fit inside. They will be mostly covered by the battery boxes...but still partially exposed. I might try to cover them with some flexible white plastic or something. Man these feet are taking TOO LONG.

The middle foot will have one side that opens. They one side pieces will come off easily. I have some STRONG magnets I will use to attach the panel, and if I neet to remove the foot I pop off the cover and then have access to the screw that *hopefully* keeps the foot level.

Got your post on my blog and those feet are looking good!!!
On the bondo, If the temp is high add less hardner to the mix and mix very well. It will dry slower at this mix.
I got to work on my feet soon also,
I got brenda's center foot almost complete and I tell you that little piece on the side of the moons was a pain in the butt.
This Saturday, We'll cut the rest of her frame and will have some new post Sunday.

If you used sintra for the moons..a heat gun will soften the plastic in no time to allow it to stay in the curved position..as opposed to relying on glue to hold the curve..

Just go slow so as not to overdo it...but I spose Im too late for comments like this. :p

I did reduce the hardener, but by them I was too hot and frustrated..results were bad...

Maybe the 4th go around will be better. :p Once I get some paint on they will look good I am sure. I don't mind the odd ding, scrape, etc. He WANTS to look old and used...so I can do that!

I can't believe how fast you are going with Brenda's!!!!!!!!

I'm liking that Boba helmet!!! Cant wait to see it all weathered up and painted!! I was telling some people, including my family, that I wanted to get into prop building soon. Every single person told me I was nuts!! Just like they said when I started building R2. But, when they see some progress, and I tell them what my droid will be able to do, or what I plan to build in the future, their reactions are totally different!!! I'm sure this happens to you, but guys like me totally understand if you were to tell me tomorrow that you were gonna build a full scale Jabba The Hutt next....or a full sized Landspeeder. I truly admire your props, and R2 of course, and everything I've seen so far is really inspiring to say the least!!

Thanks John.

I may not paint this Fett helmet..I DID make the one from scratch and paint and weather it..not sure I EVER want to do that again. ;)

Full size Jabba..you know..I was close...well sort of. There was a nice looking full sized head on ebay I considered getting..and considered attaching it to a large brown/green bean bag chair....STAR WARS FURNITURE!!

I didn't do it tho.

Don't let people's reactions stop you. My wife always makes fun of me, but when we have company she is the first one to show it off!!!!

HAHAHA!!!!! Yep!!!! Exactly!!!! When my parents come over, it dosent take 5 minutes before they ask how R2 is coming along. They actually think it takes a month to build!!! I just got my periscope today, and when I told them how much it was, they freaked!!! They will never understand.

Haha,

Hard to understand how each little part is so expensive..
