Been fiddling on a few things

I have been wokring on a few small things...

I touched up the Firefly sign a bit..added stars..painted the edges black..and coated with clear gloss to make it shiny. I also have painted the ship parts a base color..metallic aluminum with a mist of flat black. REALLY seems to match the ONE picture I have of the ship. I cannot believe how hard it is to find screen grabs or reference images of the ship from the show.

My R2 had a problem with the dome rotation motor. The mounting screws loosened causing it to turn and bang when the dome switched directions. I have tightened it for now but I will have to redrill the holes.

I tried out my picoswitch and modified mcdonalds toy sound board with my Vex system. IT WORKED!! Now my R2 has 2 sound options...the interactive R2 inside as before..AND at the press of a button 3 sounds fromt he Mcdonalds toy. Nice to have the option of him playing a sound at the press of a button on my transmitter!!

I have also been gluing together a model (12") of a battle droid. It comes with a STAP (flying bike thing) but I think I just want the Battle Droid.

AGain I need a new airbrush which woudl really help me with these projects. Sigh...funds are too tight.

cool, you're still being creative. That Mcd's sound opinion you mentioned. Where did you get it and are they still available?

That was a toy at Mcdonalds to promote the release of the Clone Wars movie.

It is an R2 bobblehead..just plays 3 sounds. Cam from the atromechfactory soldered wires to the power leads for me. I removed the little speaker and attached the wires to a slightly larger speaker I had.

Then just got a picoswitch online..plugged it into a spare port in my vex reciver and when I press a button r2 plays sounds...well 3 sounds..but a nice option to have control instead of the interactive R2 sounds I usualy have running.

Of course I am having interference issues with my Vex receiver so every time it loses the signal it seems to activate the switch and he talks randomly too. I have to get the antenna outside of the aluminum body somehow.

The action figure has more sounds. It should work the same way. I have heard that you can use it with a servo and when you hold it down (as the toy works) he does the scream sound.

Might be another cheap option.
