One foot back on!!

I had to rebuild the left foot these past few weeks..too many squeals and was runnign too low. I remade the foot drive brackets...tried to fit them intot he existing shell..broke that in the process..reglued...rebondoed...repainted....YUCK!

I finally got the foot back on. It is much better..much more clearance inside, 2 wheels for better traction and higher off carpet so no more dragging. Now time to start rebuilding foot #2...YUCK!!!

Here is the rebuilt foot with new drive bracket inside..

Here is the old right foot with the new bracket beside it....I hope this one's rebuild goes better!!

Here is my new bracket. If you look in the top channel you can see a stopper plate. That will seat up against the ankle so the foot stays flat and does bottom out (eliminating the need for a caster in the rear foot to hold the foot flat).

I feel sorry for your set backs Jason, but hang in there. Try to remember that building IS half the fun of having a complete and finished artoo. Right now I'm cutting through 80 feet of fiber optic cables for my front and rear logics. Thats about 300 (8 inch) fibers with melting their tips while trying to squeeze them in a very little area, yippy ;)

I remember doing that with the fibreoptics...

I just took them all out for my new boards...I was never happy with mine.

Yeah..giving myself a deadline kind of robbed me of the fun...but also is motivating me to work on the hard parts...

I hear ya, deadlines kind of rob you from the fun. But fisrt time you take artoo to an event you'll realize it was worth it :)

Do you have any pictures of how your finish fiber optics looked?

SETBACKS ARE TERRIBLE!!!
I have been beating my head against the wall lately.
But I'm glad you are having some upbeat projects.
Great work old man :O)

Sorry Thomas..I don't think I haave any pics of the fibreoptics. What I did wasused a soldering iron to heat the ends which would make a blob that held them in place. Tedious process. I then used soem white glue to make sure they stayed in place..but even then they seemed to come loose sometimes...the odd strand anyways.

Thanks Calvin...it's getting there slowly!! I dunno..I attached the second foot (minus the shell) and hooked up 24v to them but it didn't move...needed a push to get going. After all this he still may not move. He's heavy for sure..I'd say 120 lbs...but one of those scooters would move me no problem so unless my r2 was like 350lbs I would expect him to move. We'll see once the rc is all hooked up I guess...

Might still be static....wah!

Did'nt move?
Are the batts fully charged?
Did you connect the wires directly to the batts?
I know those are the 100w motors?
How did you run the power?
