Doing a Little Legwork

I had some troubles gluing the lower legs together..but with soem regluing, bondo, etc I think I pulled it off. The knee areas weren't as flat as I would like, but they are holding so that's good.

I also had to repaint Threepio's right foot on the base since I had it gold, but his right lower leg and foot are chrome colored....DOH. I masked it off and painted it n place since I had filled the foot a bit with foam and glue so when I use spray foam to fill this lower leg it doesnt seep through the bottom.

I will add black inside the ankles for where you can see through and then fill it with spray foam for a strong secure lower leg.

Here is the rough skeleton. You can see how cheap gold paint compares to the stuff I got from the UK.

Hi Jason! I was wondering is your artoo a prop or is it RC? I'm asking because I was curious as to what powers it.

I WILL be making it rc..have a vex system (thanks to Calvin)...just been too afraid to wire it...

I gutted a couple electric scooters and am using those and the batteries they came with to power it....thats the plan anyways. :)

What are you planning for RC?

I'm also going to be using a vex system but because I'm building 2 artoos at the same time I desided to use vex signal splitters first that Calvin helped me get hold of, instead of the vex micro controller. The wiring issue will be a challenge for me as well but I plan to give them the basic artoo functions to start off with. I already figured out how I will get most of the parts to work, you know the lights, dome and sound but I'm still hunting for 4 scooters. I'll be starting the RC stuff in the summer when its gets a little warmer outside. That way I'll have them both finished by the autumn.... as you say... thats the plan anyway ;)
